The day after their 4th Birthday I felt bad that they really didn't have such a great birthday.
Tommy and I had decided not to have birthday parties for them every year because we would rather spend the money giving them a life experience. I know that at some point they might hate this idea but we really want to encourage and carry this tradition on.
I don't really remember presents that I got as a child (Except that damn Sonny and Cher doll that scared me to death.) I do remember things that my parents did for me.
We really want to encourage everyone in their life to spend time with them doing things rather then giving them things.
Anyway...On Thursday night Grams and Pops were coming to visit us for their birthday so I thought that we would make a birthday cake.
We went to Country Kettle to pick out candy to decorate their cake.
The kids agreed to a vanilla cake with chocolate icing.
For some reason the cake was falling apart. I made the icing myself and I think that it might have been too hard for the cake.
I took a licorce and split the cake in half. Ballerina decorated the right side of the cake and Speed Racer decorated the left side.
Ballerina had such a great time decorating the cake. She loves to decorate. She plays decorating. I wonder who she gets that from?!?!
She was trying to make sense out of everything she was doing!
Ace of Cakes better watch out for the Nieman twins.
She also wanted to sample the candy
Ballerina's side of the cake.
Speed Racer's turn to decorate.
He of course got worms, sharks, and mexican hats.
He was trying out the candy too!!
So here to the cake all down!!
No they did not make me a cake!!! I am not forty four. Like I said they each had their own side of the cake.
The cake was actually pretty good!! However I will never make another 13x9 cake again!!
