Re-Arranging

You know my saying

"When the cat is away the mice will play."

Tommy was in Atlanta this week for a meeting.

My parent's came up to keep us company and help me with the kids.

On, Tuesday night I told them I was thinking about making a big change in the family room. I have been thinking about doing this for some time, but I wasn't too sure. My parent's listened to my idea and encouraged to make the change. That's what parents are for right? To encourage their children!!

Anyway, we sat around Wednesday discussing it some more because it would take a bit of work.

I figured I would sleep on it and decide in the morning. I thought about it and decided to go ahead and re-arrange a few things.

Here is my Dad (playing Vannah White). Since, buying this TV a few years ago for Christmas we never had a entertainment center for the TV. I was bothered by that and the fact that you can see ALL the wires. Wires for the TV, computer, Wii, DVD player, DVR, and the computer router. Too many wires.

I had a simple solution without spending any money!!!

I bought down the fireplace from room and placed it here!!!
What do you think?
I really like the change.
The fireplace was slighty covering my heater vent in my room making my room very cold.

So, by moving the fireplace downstairs I resolved two problems.

The fireplace also has some logs that needs a new light. I also need to get some black felt to cover the wires in the back. I can't stand seeing wires!!
My Dad built a little shelf inside the fireplace for all the cable and computer boxes. We also hung the TV on the wall which is something Tommy has wanted to do.

I  just got this new chair!! Nana gave it to me. It was suppose to be my chair over 12 years ago but she really wanted it so I let her have it! LOL!!! Nana got a new reclining chair that helps her get out of her chair.

The more I look at the new arrangement the more I am happy with my decision.

I just need to get new tiles for around the fireplace. The kids also think that Hanukkah Harry has a new way of coming into our house.

I can't wait to hear what the Cat will say!! TEEHEEE

I am linking up with My Romantic Home.

Secret Project Reveal

In my last blog post, I mentioned that I was working on a project that no one knew about. Truth be told my Dad knew because in any project I do I need to make sure I am doing it right.

As I mentioned I was re-painting the back door. I had painted it last summer and some of the paint chipped off the window trim. So, as I was re-painting the wall I decided that I needed to take the plunge and re-paint the front door. Remember several months ago I asked your opinion on what color to paint my front door?

Since I had more then 3/4 of a gallon of paint left I decided to paint my front door the same color as the back door.

It definitely makes a statement.

Now I need to paint the door frame and re-place the kick plate.
I also need to add some flowers or some other decoration besides the boots.

What It Could Have Been?

On Friday I went to physical therapy for my back and the physical therapist (John) asked me what I did to my back? I laughed and shared the list of things I had done over the past couple of days. (I have some pictures of the projects)

1. I replanted about 8 pine trees in our yard.
2. I weeded and raked half the yard.
3. I started to paint a vanity table.
4. I moved this shelf from our bedroom down to the living room.

5. Re-decorated the top of the cabinets.

I couldn't stand the top of the cabinets anymore. The top was a bunch of odds and ends and some toys that the kids were fighting over that I threw on top.

Here is a collection of plates from the Oyster House in Philadelphia. They're very old plates. I thought I would add the duck for a splash of white.

I took a white basket that I planted and added some of my hydrangeas to the basket. I wanted a little color so I added the plates.

6. I also added lights to the top of the cabinets to add brightness to the kitchen.

7. I painted an old book case white and re-located about 30 books into the basement.
8. I also continue to pick up the kids when they ask to be hugged or to be held.
9. The kids and I have been playing basketball.
10. Last but not least I have been spreading soil in the garden.
The therapist just looked at me and laughed!!! Looking back I wonder what the hell was I thinking? I just try to come up with things to do to keep me out of trouble.
Love and Hugs,
Janine

New Room

Image from Country Living Website

This past weekend Tommy and I took the kids to Sleepy's to pick out their new big boy and big girl beds. The kids had a blast trying out all the beds. After much bouncing around, laying down, and singing their songs they finally found a perfect bed in our price range. We ordered the beds and they will be delivered on Friday.

We decided that they kids are getting too big for their room. We weren't sure if two twins beds would fit into the room. We thought about separating them but they did not seem happy about the idea. So the solution is to move them into the guest room aka Amelia's room and the play room.

So I have till Friday to get their new room painted, cleaned, and organized. I also decided that their furniture needed to be painted, more on that another day!!

I like to plan rooms around a theme. Can you guess what my theme is? It's a place the kids love to go to!!

Projects of the Week

Here are some of the projects I worked on this week. I have been trying to keep busy as much as possible to keep my mind off of everything that has happened.

I picked up some frames from the dollar store with plans to make them pretty.

I sprayed paint some of the frames silver and gold. I found these gems also at the dollar store. I hot glued them onto the frames

Here is one of the frames with our beloved Lily. I wanted to pay tribute to her. She was a great dog. We miss her!!

Here is another frame with some embellishments on it. It's a present for my Nana. Shhh, don't tell her. LOL

These were some candle-sticks that I bought several years ago. They have been sitting down in the basement got a couple years and thought I really need to do something with these..either decorate or donate them.

I spray painted the candlesticks white.

I added some flowers and crystals to make it more shabby chic. I thought it also looked rather springy.

This is a close up, don't look too close you might see some mistakes.

I put the New candlesticks on the Dining Room table with some other decorations for Spring.

It's been a very long week here for us. We are hoping for a nice weekend and some time to relax.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

XOXOXOXO
